I began my entrepreneurial journey during the pandemic after I found myself stuck at home as a newly-unemployed college teacher. I felt a need to do something instead of sitting idle, and decided to turn my passion for cooking into a business and founded Nur Kitchen. Despite initial doubts from my family, I remained determined to see my initiative through to success.

Starting a food business during uncertain times was challenging. Building a customer base required dedication and perseverance, but the positive feedback from those who tasted my food fuelled my motivation. Through the #SheMeansBusiness program, I gained valuable training and resources to navigate the online business world. With their guidance, I learned how to use social media platforms to showcase my culinary creations and reach a wider audience.

By utilizing social media platforms, I managed to establish a strong online presence for my business. The response was overwhelming, with people appreciating the freshness, quality, and love in each meal. I was able to grow my business through social media as I was able to connect with more customers and take orders from different customers from across the country.

Today, Nur Kitchen stands as a testament to a woman’s resilience and determination. With every meal, I aim to bring comfort and joy to people while exploring my culinary passion. Additionally, I’ve become a food and beverage trainer for BWCCI, empowering other women to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams in the food industry by sharing with them all I have learned.

I believe that programs like #SheMeansBusiness are essential for female entrepreneurs to prosper in this digital age. I would love to attend such programs in the future.
